IBAN

International Bank Account Number

The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) Standard provides an international standard account identifier, for identifying accounts held by a financial institution, in order to facilitate automated processing of (cross-border) transactions through:

  • automatic processing of foreign bank account identifications;
  • uniform validation of foreign bank account identifications;
  • easy routing of transactions.

IBAN can be used without modification of domestic account numbers or account number formats. It does this by creating a standard prefix so that the domestic account number can remain unchanged. BIC code ABN AMRO Belgium : ABNABEBR
